I love stamps. Each is a mini work of art in its own right. About 3000 stamps from around the world are collaged onto this painting. Pencils have been cut and drilled into the sides. (What a marvelous drawing tool this could be!)

M. Herati is based on Persian carpets. The border pattern and fringe are a clear indication, but there is more! Herati is a term defining a particular pattern in carpets. Olduz, on the 8¢ stamp, refers to an 8-point star design–included on the stamp design. The boteh is an original design in carpets from which the paisley came. The 6¢ stamp reiterates the shape of the boteh in the number 6 as well as by the triangle shape of the stamp.
