Borders

Couplets in poetry intrigue me.

The second line in the poem might rephrase the first line, or it may add more information to expand the meaning of the first. The second line can on occasion contradict the first line. These two little lines of poetry captivate me. How can I use the concept of couplets in imagery?  Borders!  Typically, my borders are a second layer of dialogue to the central image.

Some borders have been pushed further to replicate a Persian carpet by adding an emblematic ‘fringe’ to the sides, which become an anecdotal third layer.

You might be curious about why I use the mix of images that I do. Click a painting below to link to the story about that particular painting and its creation in my BLOG! While I may write about what the story of the painting means to me, it is important to remember that art is a fluid language. An entirely different meaning may present itself to you, and that personal meaning is valid to you. I get excited when I hear that someone has discovered their own interpretation of my art.
